Description
This was painted in England and sprung from my need to evoke and feel the tropical heat, bliss, wildness and magic of the life I led in my rainforest hermitage.
Brazilian Black Eagles lived very close to me and they knew me well. They would call to me from high in the sky and I learned how to answer them. Sometimes I would call first and they would reply – gazing down at me as they circled high above. Sometimes they would sit in a branch of the old Hog Plum tree by my shack and watch me. And once, when I was bathing in a forest rock pool under a waterfall, I felt a presence and looked up to see the male eagle perched on a branch directly above me, watching intently. I could have reached up and touched him.
